Golfo Nuevo has clear water and small waves most of the year. That makes two experiences possible from Puerto Madryn: boat trips along the coast to see seabirds and marine mammals, and snorkeling in a thick wetsuit with the sea lions of Punta Loma, which often come close to play with swimmers.

- 7 mm wetsuit, hood, gloves and boots are provided.
- Water temperature: 10–11 °C (50–52 °F) in winter to 17–18 °C (63–64 °F) in late summer.
- No experience needed for snorkeling, but you must be able to swim.
Local tip: young sea lions are the most curious and show up most between January and April, when the year’s pups start swimming.
